Abstract

The number of foreign tourists visiting North Sumatera through 3 (three) entrances in August 2017 reached 27,082 visits, an increase of 28.50 percent compared to July 2017 reached 21,076 visits. Similarly, when compared to the same month of 2016, the number of foreign tourists in August 2017 increased 48.82 percent, from 18,198 visits in August 2016 to 27,082 visits.
The period of January-August 2017, the number of foreign tourists increased 22.88 percent compared to the same period in 2016, ie from 135,938 visits in 2016 to 167,037 visits in 2017.
In August 2017, foreign tourists from Malaysia are the most visitors with 12,379 visits or 45.71 percent of total foreign tourists visiting in North Sumatra.
Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of star hotels in North Sumatra in August 2017 reached an average of 44.71 percent, or down 7.61 points compared to July 2017 of 52.32 percent.
The average length of stay of foreign guests and Indonesian guests at star-rated hotels in August 2017 reached 1.80 days, up 0.12 points compared to July 2017.
The number of domestic passengers departing from North Sumatra through Kualanamu International Airport during August 2017 reached 309,754 people, down 19.34 percent compared to July 2017 which reached 384,004 people.
The number of inter-island sea passengers who departed in August 2017 was 4,175 people, down 76.74 percent from 17,949 the previous month.
