Abstract

The number of foreign tourists visiting in North Sumatera through 3 (three) entrances in May 2017 reached 20,080 visits, decreasing 1.64 percent compared to April 2017 which reached 20,414 visits. However, when compared to the same month in 2016, the number of foreign tourists in April 2017 increased 13.91 percent, from 17,628 visits in May 2016 to 20,080 visits.
The period from January to May 2017, the number of foreign tourists increased 21.70 percent compared to the same period in 2016, ie from 82,132 visits in 2016 to 99,954 visits in 2017.
In May 2017, foreign tourists from Malaysia were the most visitors with 9,720 visits or 48.41 percent of total foreign tourists visiting in North Sumatra.
The star-rated room occupancy rate (TPK) of star-rated hotels in North Sumatera in May 2017 reached an average of 43.83 percent, up 0.37 points compared to April 2017 of 43.46 percent.
The average length of stay of foreign guests and Indonesian guests at star-rated hotels in May 2017 reached 1.63 days, up 0.23 points compared to April 2017.
The number of domestic passengers departing from North Sumatra through Kualanamu International Airport during May 2017 reached 294,629 people, up 0.01 percent compared to April 2017 which reached 294,602 people.
