Abstract

The number of foreign tourists visiting North Sumatra through 3 (three) entrances in March 2017 reached 22,611 visits, an increase of 35.91 percent compared to that coming in February 2017 reached 16,637 visits. Similarly, when compared to the same month of 2016, the number of foreign tourists in March 2017 rose 25.50 percent, from 18,017 visits in March 2016 to 22,611 visits.

The period of January-March 2017, the number of foreign tourists increased 21.70 percent over the same period in 2016, ie from 48,857 visits in 2016 to 59,460 visits in 2017.

In March 2017, foreign tourists from Malaysia were the most visitors, with 10,779 visits or 47.67 percent of total foreign tourists visiting in North Sumatra.

The star-rated room occupancy rate (TPK) of star-rated hotels in North Sumatera in March 2017 reached an average of 45.95 percent, up 2.51 points compared to February 2017 of 43.44 percent.

The average length of stay of foreign guests and Indonesian guests at star-rated hotels in March 2017 reached 1.51 days, up 0.01 points compared to February 2017.

The number of domestic passengers departing from North Sumatra through Kualanamu International Airport during March 2017 reached 287,522 people, up 10.82 percent compared to February 2017 which reached 259,457 people.

The number of inter-island sea passengers departing in March 2017 was 3,726 people, up 1.83 percent from 3,659 the previous month.
