Abstract

Export value through loading ports in North Sumatera in January 2017 decreased compared to December 2016, from US $ 735.46 million to US $ 707.83 million or decreased by 3.76 percent. When compared to January 2016, exports through North Sumatra increased by 25.14 percent.

The greatest increase in export value in January 2017 came from the chemical product category (HS 38) of US $ 16.10 million (28.58%), while the greatest decline in export value occurred in fats and animal / vegetable oil (HS 15) US $ 47.92 million (-14.69%).

Exports to the United States in January 2017 reached the largest number of US $ 96.98 million followed by China amounted to US $ 73.00 million and India amounting to US $ 54.22 million with the contribution of the three reached 31.67 percent.

According to export-group countries in January 2017, the Asian region (outside ASEAN) was the largest with a value of US $ 238.75 million (33.73 percent).
