Production Growth of IBS Sumatera Utara Quarter I-2017 Down 7.60 Percent (Y-On-Y)

Abstract

Production growth of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry of North Sumatra Province in the first quarter of 2017 decreased by 7.60 percent compared to the same period in 2016 (y-on-y). The decline was mainly due to the decline in the growth of beverage industry production by 19.69 percent, the industry Base metals by 15.08 percent, and food industry by 1.31 percent.
The growth of production of large and medium manufacturing industries (q-to-q) of North Sumatra Province in the first quarter of 2017 decreased by 2.55 percent compared to the production of large and medium manufacturing industries in the fourth quarter of 2016. The types of industries that decreased Food industry by 11.95 percent, rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods 10.04 percent, basic metal industry by 7.12 percent, and chemical industry and chemical goods by 5.51 percent.
Production growth of micro and small manufacturing industries of North Sumatera Province in quarter I-2017 increased by 5.08 percent compared to the same period in 2016 (y-on-y). The industries that experienced an increase were rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods by 49.35 percent, metal goods industry, not machinery and equipment 9.89 percent, non-metal mining industry by 9.24 percent, food industry by 8 , 91 percent, printing and reproduction media recording industry of 4.68 percent, and other transportation equipment industry by 0.10 percent.
Production growth of micro and small manufacturing industries of North Sumatera Province in quarter I-2017 increased by 0.35 percent compared to quarter IV-2016 (q-to-q). The types of industries that experienced an increase include other transportation equipment industry by 18.70 percent, rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods by 18.45 percent, metal goods industry, not machinery and equipment 6.24 percent, food industry 3.12 percent, pharmaceutical industry, chemical and traditional medicine products 1.25 percent, non-metal mining industry 1.12 percent, and basic metal industry 0.37 percent.
